Sundial Care Home had a fantastic time celebrating the annual Care Home Open Week, inviting the community into their Sidmouth home. The day was packed with exciting and fun activities for both visitors and residents, who they affectionately refer to as family members.
The event started in the morning with a spread of cakes and refreshments, whilst being invited to look around the home and its stunning gardens. Family members enjoyed mingling with visitors and relatives who came along to join in on the day, filling the home with community spirit. In the afternoon, the fun continued with the arrival of the East Devon Ices van, offering a wide selection of ice creams.
Following this, the East Devon Daytime Band took the stage, lighting up the home and its gardens with a lively and energetic performance. The day ended with a visit from Sundial Care Home’s favourite four-legged friends from Peak Hill Llamas who are regular guests at the home and stars on BBC Spotlight Devon. As therapy llama, Harry, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the BBC Make a Difference Awards, BBC Radio Devon also made an appearance to capture his story at the event. Supporting local businesses like these is a key part of the home’s commitment to strengthening the community.
Sundial Care Home was thankful to the visitors from the community who came to experience first-hand the welcoming atmosphere that defines their home. This event was not only to highlight the home itself but also to celebrate the strong sense of community and connection within its walls.
