Devon Care Home

Sundial is approaching its first year anniversary, and has been continually evolving since then. Everyone has been hard at work to ensure that the home remains at the centre of the community whilst continuing to offer high quality and personalised care. The latest steps in this journey are the opening of the first floor of the home, and a name change. Our Devon Care Home, Sundial will now be known as Sundial Care Home.

Those who live and work at the home decided to pay homage to the sundial which has taken pride of place in the grounds for the last 150 years. As previous editions of the Tipton Times have detailed, the sundial was installed by Reverend August Archer Hunt as a commemoration to his father, Major Richard Burges Hunt. The Reverend Hunt lived in the home and decided to pay his respects to his influential and popular father. Lorraine Molloy, Manager of Sundial Care Home, said “the beautiful sundial has been here throughout Sundial’s history. It was here when it was a family home, a children’s home and now a residential home, so it only seems right to honour it as part of our efforts to create the perfect home.”

In other news, the team have been designing, building and decorating the first floor to welcome even more new friends into the Sundial Care Home family. The designs have been created in coordination with a design specialist to ensure it supports the personalised model of care on offer at the home. Each room can be personalised by the individual who will be living there, to ensure they feel completely happy and at home.

The home’s evolution is continuing in terms of the community events it offers too. The home will continue its regular lunch clubs and other fun events, but is also looking forward to some of the new ideas in the pipeline. Those who live and work at the home are particularly looking forward to seeing everyone at the Tipton St John Playing Field 50th Anniversary Summer Fair. The home has already sponsored the fair’s marquee, but is also looking forward to joining in the fun. Everyone has been practising baking their best cakes, taking the best possible photographs, and also digging out their dancing shoes for the Barn Dance!

Sundial supports individuals with various care needs and currently also has room to expand its family. For more details please call 0117 287 2566 or email arrangingsupport@sundialcare.com.
