May marked Mental Health Awareness week, for which the theme was kindness. This is apt of our experiences at Sundial over the last couple of months. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our local community, who have donated ear protectors (long term face mask wearers will understand) and sent thoughtful, kind, and inspiring messages that have been appreciatively received. The team continue to devote themselves to providing the best love and care for everyone who calls Sundial home.
Although you may have thought the current national situation may have prevented us from celebrating VE Day, we can assure it was by no means a subdued affair. Bunting and flags waving proudly throughout the home, joyful singing filling the air and we even had an appearance from some Land Girls! The singing was only halted temporarily for the remembrance service and for mouthfuls of delicious 40’s era cake and biscuits.
Spirits were high as Una, Deputy Manager said, “the day’s events were mainly non-stop war time songs and singing. It was a celebratory day, lots of music and chatter. Everyone was really upbeat.”
The glorious weather we have been blessed with has also meant that everyone has been making the most of the magnificent grounds, revelling in the beauty of the spring bloom. Eve in particular, has been making the most of the floral elegance in the grounds and has been sprucing the home with her beautiful flower arrangements.
Keeping in with the theme of kindness, this week Mr & Mrs Dewani personally delivered our weekly supply of personal protective equipment. Although they were obviously unable to come inside the home, some of us were able to enjoy a cupcake with them in the car park, whilst social distancing.
